Woon Chai Gou
This is a very late entry as I made this in early of November. I have been longing to eat this savoury delicacies for quite sometime. I made the sauce myself without referring to any recipe and it turned out great. It was exactly like those store-bought one. I didn't even measure the quantity of ingredients that I used. If I were asked to recreate the sauce, it might not be 100% the same.
Random Post
It have been more than one month since I last updated my blog. I have been very busy lately. Though I have lots of things to express, I can't really find the time to do it. Weekends are the highlights of my week. I can spend time doing things that I like as well as free myself from a "monster" from office.I am contemplating to resign. I have no other big problem in office apart from a very bad experience working with this "monster". I do not know why I do not feel like I am the HOD whenever this "monster" is around. Although she acknowledeged that I am her superior, her action doesn't prove so. She always do things behind my back and I can clearly say that she is the queen of knife; ever so happy to backstab people. I am her superior. If she have any issues or problem, she should approach me first and not to barge into the directors office and complaint. It has been too much a time that I was being called to the directors office to explain things that should not even need any explanation in normal circustances. I hate to raise the white flag against this "monster" but I can't really stand in to the pressure that she created. I was wondering whether what she done was politicallly motivated but this is not something which I can answer myself.
Maybe audit environment is more suitable for me? I can't really feel any office politics in my previous job. All my ex-colleagues were so nice and we always treat each other like brothers and sisters. Nobody tried to race against each other to prove that they are more superior against the others. Everybody was so helpful to each other and teamwork spirit were there. I don't know why I am longing for those kind of feeling, which seems to have been lost and never existed in this company. Should I leave ......?

Weekend in Klang
We went back to Klang during the week of the horror crash that claimed 13 lives and was stuck in the traffic jam for few hours en route back to Malacca. It took us about 6.5 hours to reach Malacca, which usually only take us about 1.5 to 2 hours. We only reached home around 2.30am. As it was way past my bedtime, I was unable to sleep and ended up wide awake till morning. I thought of taking leave to rest at home but I have no annual leave left. So, I still have to crawl up and obediently go to work.
Initially we didn't know what happen. We only got the news that there was an accident near the border of Negeri Sembilan-Malacca from announcement over the radio at around 12am. The accident happen at around 7.45pm. Along the way, we saw many smaller accidents due to the traffic jam as well as cars that stalled at the highway. I believe many people did not expect such a terrible jam and therefore drove with almost empty tank. That's why there were so many cars that stalled and the drivers walked with empty containers on hand to the nearest petrol station across the highway which was quite far away. I think some of the cars' engine has also became too hot. We also saw many cars stopped along the way with smoke around the engine compartments.
:) The next morning when I got to office, I was told that one of my colleague was so relieved that she escaped the accident. She normally passed through that area around the accident time. On the way to KL, her mum actually mentioned about Km 223 as they passed through the area. Her mum was telling her that it is similar to her car plate number which is also 223. As she said that, a thought suddenly popped up her mind. She was thinking that if a car suddenly flew over from the opposite direction and hit her car, she wouldn't know what to do. She always go to KL to visit her husband during the weekends. But on that fateful day, her husband was not feeling very well. So she decided to go back to Malacca earlier so that her husband can have a rest. It would normally be very difficult to get her son to go back to Malacca so early but on that day, he did not even make a sound and just followed what his mum said. They came back to Malacca around 2pm and escaped the accident.
The next day, I heard from another colleague that the young couple that was involve in the accident is actually her friend. There were so many coincidences in this world as I have noticed....
So, we will just put a full stop to all the sad stories and here come the pictures taken in Klang....
Chocolate Cupcakes
I was out of high protein flour. Therefore, I can't make any breads. So, I ended up baking chocolate cupcakes last Saturday. This is a simple chocolate cupcakes recipe that I got online and tweaked to my liking.
Simple Chocolate Cupcakes (My Version)
Ingredients:
175 ml full cream milk
60g cooking chocolate, finely chooped
80g caster sugar
60g butter
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1 large egg, beaten
150g self-raising flour
2 tablespoon chopped chocolate
Method:
Preheat oven to 180 degree C.
Heat milk in saucepan till just scalding. Put the cooking chocolate and 1/3 of the sugar into a bowl. Pour over the hot milk and stir till smooth. Let it cool for a while.
Cream butter, remaining sugar and vanilla till light and fluffy, then gradually beat in the egg. Stir in some of the chocolate mixture alternating with the flour. Stir in the chocolate pieces.
Spoon into paper cases till approximately 2/3 full. Bake in the pre-heated oven for about 18 to 20 minutes. They are done when they spring back when pressed in the centre. The original recipe can produce 12 cupcakes. But I can only make 11 cupcakes from this recipe.

Steamed Yam Cake

Yam Buns
When I prepared the mashed yam for my yam jelly mooncakes, I decided to prepare more to be used as fillings for my buns as well. Basically, I just cut the yam into small cubes and boiled them together with sugar and knotted screwpine leaves till they are soft. I then mashed them using a spoon. The yam is then ready to be used as fillings for my yam buns and yam jelly mooncakes.
Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!!
Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to everybody out there. My wedding anniversary also coincides with this festival. This is my 5th wedding anniversary. As this year's Mid Autumn Fest falls on a working day, we didn't manage to have a proper celebration. Hubby came home quite late and by the time we reached the town, it was past 10 o'clock. Most of the F&B establishment has closed for the day. Moreover, it was raining quite heavily. So, we decided to just order McDonalds (Drive-Thru).
:D
Back to the topic... I didn't manage to make so many varieties of mooncakes like the previous year. This year, I only make jelly mooncakes. I made 3 flavours, ie Cendol, Red Bean-Pandan and Yam. I feel that the Yam Jelly Mooncakes were the best among the three.

Genting Trip
During the long Hari Raya break, we went to Genting Highlands on a one-day trip. As it was a public holiday, the Theme Park was very pack with holiday-makers. Most of our time was wasted on queuing up. I think I will just let the photos do the talking....
