Getting Older & Older

Wow!! It's coming......and it is approaching with the speed of light....Another birthday.....?! Sure or not?

My birthday falls on 1 April. I don't know whether there would be any celebration or not. I am hoping for one. I was not able to celebrate my birthday last year as I was still under confinement after giving birth to little Cheryl.

What is my birthday wishes this year? I am not that greedy.....So I hope my wish would be granted. I wish the baby that I am carrying now is a boy coz I already have a baby girl. If I can have a baby boy this round, it would be perfect.

I also hope that my hubby will love me more and more and more.....I hope he can spend more time with us and bring us out for vacations at least once a year. I have not had any vacation since 2006. Sigh!

Cheryl's Birthday

We finally found the green peas in a minimarket operated by an Indian. This is how it looks like.

After washing and soaking for few hours, they were cooked and mashed into puree form.

Green peas! Oh Green Peas!

This Friday, 14 March 2008 is my baby's first birthday. I have planned a birthday party for her...a small scale party attended only by the birthday girl, mummy and daddy. I will be baking a cake for her as well as "red eggs", jelly, "angkoo" and steamed yam cake.

In order to make the "angkoo" I need split and skinned green peas. I have a tough time looking for this particular ingredient. I have been to 6 shops to look for this ingredient but none of shop has it. I hope I can get this green peas in time to make the "angkoo" for her birthday.

Why is it so difficult to get the split and skinned green peas, huh?!

Wind of Change

Saturday, 8 March 2008 was THE DAY. It was a day of change....It was the first time in history that the coalition forming the goverment did not obtain the 2/3 majority but rather only simple majority to form the next government.



I did not vote in the 12th General Election but practically all the people that I know of voted for the oppositions. I missed the 11th General Election and now I also missed the 12th General Election. Why didn't I vote? Because I did not see anybody who is worthy of my vote.



I think there were lots of factors contributing to the major swing of votes towards the oppositions. Although there were many advertisements in the tv commenting on how good the present government is in managing the country and how well certain component party of the BN has served the community and so forth, the people is still not influenced by these ads. Why is it so? It is simply because they are just doing what they are expected to do. Not more than that. There are still many issues left unresolved. Issues affecting the community, in particular. We need MPs or assemblymen who dare to voice out on issues affecting the community and not insiders who wishes to sit there comfortably and who dare not speak out eventhough there were injusties.



Commenting on the ads in the mass media, there is one point that is worthy of our note. How much has been spent on these ads? In the weeks/days leading to the polling date, how many times has these ads being aired. Not only once in a day, mind you. So if you do the calculations, you would be surprised on the amount. It is our hard-earned money. Wouldn't it be better if the $$ were put into better use?
